If equipped, remove the sound plate from the bottom of the transmission guard. Remove the four clips that secure the sound plate to the transmission guard.

Remove the crankcase drain plug and drain the oil into a suitable container. Clean the crankcase drain plug and replace the crankcase drain plug.

Remove the filter element with a strap type wrench.
Clean the filter mounting base with a clean cloth. Make sure that the old filter gasket has been removed.
Apply a thin film of clean engine oil to the sealing surface of the new filter element.
Install the new oil filter by hand. Instructions for the installation of the filter are printed on the side of each Caterpillar spin-on filter. For non-Caterpillar filters, refer to the installation instructions that are provided by the supplier of the filter.
Open the engine access door on the top of the machine.

Remove the oil filler cap (2). Fill the crankcase with new oil. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Lubricant Viscosities" and Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Capacities (Refill)". Clean the oil filler cap and install the oil filler cap.
Start the engine and allow the oil to warm. Check for leaks.
Stop the engine and allow the oil to drain back into the oil pan. Maintain the oil level in the crosshatched region of the engine oil dipstick (1). Add oil, if necessary.
Replace the engine access panel and close the engine access door.
