Procedure To Modify The Start Switch Opening And Install The New Start Switch
1. Remove the key from the switch.2. Disconnect the battery or batteries.3. Remove the radio blanking plate mounted above the start switch by loosening the two screws and sliding the blanking plate to release the gripping brackets. If the machine is equipped with a radio then the dash may need to be disassembled from below.4. Remove the nut that holds the start switch and push the switch through the hole. Pull the start switch assembly and wiring harness through the radio opening.5. Remove the wires from the existing start switch and discard the start switch.
Illustration 1.6. Remove the existing "tab" (A) from the start switch opening as shown in Illustration 1. Remove the existing start switch position decal and discard.
Illustration 2.7. Modify the start switch opening as shown in Illustration 2 to provide clearance for the three gussets on the 110-7883 Start Switch Assembly. Use a small die grinder or similar tool to remove material from three locations (C) spaced 120 degrees apart. Make sure that one of the locations is at the top of opening (B) as shown. Remove only enough material to allow the switch to be inserted through hole (B). 8. Connect the chassis wires to the 110-7883 Start Switch Assembly terminal locations as shown in the following chart. 9. Push the new start switch through the hole and place the 133-8860 Switch Spacer Assembly over the start switch.
Illustration 3.10. Use the switch spacer assembly as a template to drill two 4.5 mm (.18 in) holes (D) as shown in Illustration 3.11. Secure the 133-8860 Switch Spacer Assembly and the 132-4394 Switch Decal with the two 6R-7921 Screws.12. Make sure that the drain hole in the switch is positioned toward the bottom. Secure the 110-7883 Start Switch to the spacer using the nut provided with the start switch. Tighten the nut to 1.6 N m (14 lb in).13. Install the radio blanking plate.14. Connect the battery or batteries.
