Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

Lip seal (13) has a cardboard insert (14) . The cardboard insert is used to keep the seal in position. Do not remove the cardboard insert prior to the installation of shaft (10) . The cardboard insert (14) positions the lip seal for the shaft installation.

Install lip seal (13) with Tooling (C) .
Install the shaft in the lip seal. Remove the cardboard insert.

Position bearing assembly (9) on the shaft in the water pump housing.
Install retainer (8) and bolts (7) .

Position gear (6) and install bolt (5) .

Invert the water pump and position seal assembly (12) on shaft (10) . Use Tooling (D) and a suitable press to install seal assembly (12) .
Use Tooling (D) and a suitable press to install ring (11) on shaft (10) .

Install impeller (4) on the shaft and tighten bolt (3) to a torque of 39 3 N m (29 2 lb ft).
Check the condition of O-ring seal (2) on adapter (1) . Apply clean engine oil to the O-ring seal.
Install adapter (1) and O-ring seal (2) .End By: Install the water pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Water Pump - Install".
