At operating temperature, the engine coolant is hot and under pressure.Steam can cause personal injury.Check the coolant level only after the engine has been stopped and the fill cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.Remove the fill cap slowly to relieve pressure.Cooling system conditioner contains alkali. Avoid contact with the skin and eyes to prevent personal injury.
Illustration 1 g02037093The radiator on this machine's has a top tank. The top tank has a filler cap and two coolant level gauges. Removing the filler cap is not necessary to check the coolant level. The top tank is inside the engine compartment on the front right side of the machine. The filler cap is beneath access door (1) that is on the top left side of the engine hood.

Coolant level gauge
Observe the coolant level gauge in order to verify the level of the coolant. If the coolant level is above the coolant level gauge on either side of the coolant tank, the coolant level is okay. If no coolant level is visible in the top tank, the coolant is low.
If adding coolant is necessary, remove the radiator cap slowly in order to relieve the pressure.
Fill the cooling system to the top of the coolant level gauge in the top tank. Adding coolant above this level mark will cause the coolant to overflow the cooling system.
Maintain the coolant level so that the coolant is visible in the coolant level gauge of the top tank. If you need to add coolant daily, check the cooling system for leaks.
Inspect the radiator cap and the radiator cap seal for debris, for foreign material, or for damage. Clean the radiator cap with a clean cloth. Replace the radiator cap if the radiator cap is damaged.
Install the radiator cap.
Inspect the radiator core for debris. Clean the radiator core, if necessary. Use compressed air to remove dust and debris from the radiator core.
