2. Install hoist on fan (3) and remove bolts (4) that hold the fan and adapter to fan drive. Put the fan in position on the baffle for the radiator guard.3. Remove bolt (1) and clip from tank. Disconnect line (2) from fitting. 4. Remove the top four bolts (5) on the fan drive assembly.5. Loosen the bolts that hold the alternator in position to remove the tension on the vee belts (6). Remove the vee belts (6) from the engine. 6. Install a hoist on the fan drive and remove two bolts (8) that hold the fan drive to the timing gear cover. Remove fan drive (7) from vehicle. The following steps are for the installation of the fan drive and support. 7. Fasten a hoist to the fan drive (7). Put the unit in position on the timing gear cover and install the lower two bolts (8) that hold it. Remove hoist. 8. Install line (2) and clip (1) on tank. Install the other four bolts (5) on the fan adapter. 9. Install vee belts (6) on the pulleys. Make an adjustment of the vee belts. See the topic, Install Alternator. 10. Fasten a hoist to the fan and adapter. Install bolts to fasten the fan and adapter to the fan drive. Remove hoist.Disassemble Fan Drive
Start By:a. remove fan drive and support 1. Remove bolts (1), the lock and washer. Remove O-ring seal from hub. 2. Use a soft faced hammer to push hub (2) away from bearing (3). Remove bearing (3). 3. Remove hub (2) and pulley (4) from the bracket assembly. 4. Remove spacer (5) from hub. 5. Turn hub over and remove spacer (6). Remove seal (7) and bearing (8) from hub. 6. Disconnect line (10) from bracket (9). 7. Remove the pin that holds the shaft with a hammer and punch. Remove shaft (11) from the bracket.Assemble Fan Drive
1. Put shaft (11) in position in bracket (9). Install pin that holds shaft. 2. Install line (10) on bracket (9). 3. Use tool group (A) to install the seal even with the end of hub (2) with the lip of the seal toward the outside as shown. 4. Install spacer (6) on bracket assembly with the chamfer toward pulley.5. Install pulley (4) on bracket. 6. Install the inner bearing and spacer (5) in the hub. 7. Fill the area between the bearings in the hub with multipurpose type grease. Install the outer bearing (3) in hub with tooling (A). 8. Put multipurpose grease on the lip of the seal and install the hub assembly on the bracket assembly.9. Install washer, lock and bolts on the shaft. 10. Install O-ring seal (12).End By:a. install fan drive
