Clean Filters
Clean filters more often in dusty conditions. 1. Remove the fresh air filter cover located outside behind the cab and remove the recirculated air filter cover behind the seat. 2. Remove the filter elements. Clean the filter elements with pressure air or wash the elements in warm water and a nonsudsing household detergent.3. Rinse in clean water and air dry thoroughly.4. Install the filter elements. Install the filter covers.Collet Pins
Torque Bolts
The following procedures apply after the initial 50 hours of operation on a new machine or 50 hours after a collet has been installed using either new or old pins. Retorque bucket lift cylinder, tilt cylinder and bucket linkage collet pins. Total of 14 collet pins.1. Torque the bolts to 1800 200 N m (1332 150 lb ft).
When striking the collet, with a large hammer, protect the bolt head with a spacer to prevent bolt damage.
2. Strike the collet until the bolt torque falls to 950 N m (700 lb ft) or less.3. Retorque the bolts to 1800 200 N m (1332 150 lb ft).4. Strike the collet until the bolt torque falls to 1600 N m (1200 lb ft) or less.5. Retorque the bolts to 1800 200 N m (1332 150 lb ft).Tires
Check Inflation Pressure
Measure the tire pressure on each tire. Consult your Caterpillar dealer for correct load rating and operating pressures.Inflate the tires, if necessary. See the Tire Inflation Information section of this manual.
