1. Loosen eight bolts (1) at transmission oil cooler tube flanges (2). 2. Loosen four bolts (4) at outlet relief valve (2). 3. Remove sixteen bolts (5) and eight half flanges (6) from retarder control valve (8). Cap or plug immediately.4. Disconnect hose at elbow (9). Cap or plug immediately. Remove three bolts (7) and retarder control valve (8). 5. Remove small O-ring seal (10). Remove two O-ring seals (11). Check O-ring for wear or damage. Replace as necessary before installation. For installation of the retarder control valve, reverse the removal steps.End By:a. raise and secure crankcase guard group.b. fill transmissionc. fill torque converterd. fill transmission oil coolerDisassemble & Assemble Retarder Control Valve
Start By:a. remove retarder control valve 1. Remove bolts (2) and washers. Remove cover (1). Remove seal (3) from body (7).2. Remove spool (5) from body (7). Remove slug (4), spring (6), stop (8), and spring (9) from the spool. Remove bolt (12), stud (11), and pin (13) from the spool.3. Remove bolts (10) and washers. Remove cover (15). Remove plug (14) from the cover.4. Remove diagram (16) from the body. Remove the plug, seal, spring and plunger from the threaded hole in the body connecting with passage (17). The following steps are for the assembly of the retarder control valve.5. Clean and inspect all parts. Make a replacement of all parts that are worn or damaged.6. Install the plunger, spring, seal and plug in the threaded hole connecting with passage (17) in body (7). Install diaphragm (16) in the body.7. Install plug (14) in cover (15). Install the cover with bolts and cover (10).8. Install pin (13), stud (11) and bolt (12) in spool (5). Install spring (9), stop (8), spring (6), and slug (4) in the spool. Install the spool in body (7).9. Install seal (3) in body (7). Install cover (1) and bolts and washers (2).End By:a. install retarder control valve
