Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the turbocharger. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Turbocharger - Remove".

Loosen bolts (2) in reverse numerical order to the sequence that is shown in Illustration 1. Note: Loosening the bolts in reverse numerical order will help prevent distortion of the exhaust manifold.
Remove bolts (2) from exhaust manifold (3). Note: Bolts (2) may be equipped with spacers. Record the position of the spacers. Support the manifold as the bolts are removed.
Remove exhaust manifold (3).
Remove exhaust manifold gasket (1).
If necessary, remove studs (4) from exhaust manifold (3). Installation Procedure

Typical example
Ensure that the exhaust manifold is clean and free from damage. Clean the joint face of the cylinder head.
If necessary, install studs (4) to exhaust manifold (3). Tighten the studs to a torque of 18 N m (13 lb ft).

Tightening sequence for the exhaust manifold
Install Tooling (A) to the cylinder head in positions (X). Refer to Illustration 4.
Position a new exhaust manifold gasket (1) onto Tooling (A). Note: Ensure that the exhaust manifold gasket is correctly oriented.
Align exhaust manifold (3) with Tooling (A). Install the exhaust manifold to the cylinder head.
Install new bolts (2) finger tight. Note: Bolts (2) that were equipped with spacers. Install the spacer in the original position.
Remove Tooling (A). Install the remaining bolts (2) finger tight.
Tighten bolts (2) to a torque of 40 N m (30 lb ft) in the sequence that is shown in Illustration 4. End By:
Install the turbocharger. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Turbocharger - Install".
