Remove the power train guard. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Power Train Guard (Transmission) - Remove and Install".
Release the system pressure. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "System Pressure - Release".Note: SERVICE DATA: TOOLING (ZZ) WILL NOT BE IDENTIFIED IN PHOTOGRAPHS IN THE REMOVAL OR THE INSTALLATION. THIS TOOLING IS SHOWN IN ORDER TO ASSIST THE EXPERIENCED SERVICEMAN.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Put identification marks on all lines, hoses, wires and tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, hoses and tubes. This helps prevent fluid loss and contamination of the fluid system.

Disconnect hose assembly (1). Drain the transmission oil from hose assembly (1) and the transmission housing into a suitable container for storage or disposal.

Remove hose assembly (2). Drain the transmission oil from hose assembly (2) into a suitable container for storage or disposal.

Disconnect hose assembly (3). Drain the transmission oil from hose assembly (3) into a suitable container for storage or disposal.

Disconnect hose assembly (4). Drain the transmission oil from hose assembly (4) into a suitable container for storage or disposal.

Remove bolts (6). Remove flywheel scavenge pump (5) .

Remove bolts (7) and elbow (8) from flywheel scavenge pump (5). Remove bolts (9) and elbow (10) from flywheel scavenge pump (5) .

Remove O-ring seals (11) and (12) and screen (13) from elbow (10) .

Use Tooling (A) to remove retaining ring (14). Remove washer (15) and gear (16) from flywheel scavenge pump (5) .
