(1) Date CodeCylinder packs, short blocks, long blocks, engine rebuild kits, and remanufactured engines could have been built with oversize 284-6039 Piston Skirts . A process problem has been identified and the date codes for the suspect piston skirts are U182 and U183.Solution
Remove the piston skirts with date codes U182 and U183 from dealer stock. Replace the skirts in cylinder packs, short blocks, long blocks, engine rebuild kits, engines and inventory that are found to contain skirts with these date codes. Use existing parts with other date codes to repair. A parts stock service letter will be created to pay for this work.
