Dealers report fuel leaks from the 382-0664 and 438-5386 Water Separator and Fuel Filter As . The leak can be seen from the bottom of the filter at the drain valve and/or the sensor port.Solution
Inspect the 382-0664 and 438-5386 Water Separator and Fuel Filter As prior to installation on the machine. If the bottom of the filter appears similar to Illustration 2 or Illustration 3, do not use the filter.Handle the 382-0664 and 438-5386 filters with care. Overstacking, dropping, or any other action that might apply impact force to the drain valve and/or plug on the bottom of the filter must be avoided.Note: Illustration 1 shows a filter in good condition. Illustration 2 shows the bottom of the filter pushed-in after impact force upon the drain valve. Illustration 3 shows the paint peeling around the plug, indicating that the bottom of the filter housing has been pushed-in.
