At operating temperature, the hydraulic oil tank is hot and under pressure. Hot oil can cause burns. To prevent possible personal injury, release the pressure in the hydraulic system before any hydraulic lines or components are disconnected or removed.
Release the pressure in the hydraulic system as follows:a. Shut off the engine.b. Move the control levers through their full travel strokes. This will relieve any pressure that may be present in the pilot system.c. Slowly loosen the air breather cap on the hydraulic oil tank to release the pressure.d. Tighten the air breather cap on the hydraulic oil tank.e. The pressure in the hydraulic system has now been released. Lines and components can now be removed.Start By:a. remove hood1. Remove access panels from machine. 2. Drain oil from hydraulic tank by removal of plug (2). Remove bolt (1) to disconnect steering linkage from steering control valve. 3. Remove bolts (4) and flanges (3) to disconnect the oil supply line (5) from the steering valve. 4. Remove bolts and flanges that fasten the steering lines (6) and elbow (7) to the steering valve. 5. From the opposite side of the machine, disconnect and remove bolts and flanges to disconnect hydraulic hose (9). Disconnect two tube assemblies (8) from steering valve. 6. Remove three bolts (11) and the steering valve (10) from the machine. Weight of the steering control valve is 20 kg (45 lb). Install in the reverse order. Start By:a. remove steering control valve 1. Remove rod end (4) from valve spool.2. Remove four bolts (1), guide (6), two spacers (5), rubber tube (3) and cover (2) from the valve body. 3. Remove O-ring seals (7) and (8) from cover. 4. Remove seal from cover with tooling (A). 5. Remove bolts (9) and end cover (10). 6. Remove O-ring seals (11), (12) and (13) from cover. Remove seat (14) and spring (15) from cover. 7. Remove valve assembly (17) from body (16). 8. Put valve assembly in a soft jaw vise. Remove bolts (19) and assembly (18) from end of stem. 9. Remove shims (27) and (23) from bolt (19). After the bolt is removed from assembly, disassemble components as follows: remove washers (20) and (24) from bolt, retainer (25) from spring (21), and retainer (26) from washer (22).10. Remove pilot (32) from body. 11. Remove O-ring seal (31) from spacer and spacer (30) from body. Remove valve (33) and two springs (28) and (29). 12. Remove valve (34) from body with a hammer and a brass rod. 13. Remove O-ring seal (35) from valve (34). 14. Remove adapter (36) from body. Remove the O-ring seals from adapter. There are several plugs in the valve body. These need to be removed to prevent seal damage if body is to be cleaned in solvent.Assemble Steering Control Valve
Inspect all O-ring seals for damage and
