Introduction
This special instruction provides the necessary information to install a hydraulic oil filter in the high pressure lines loop lines for the compactors listed above. The hydraulic oil filter installation requirements are for the propel pump loop lines and the vibratory motor loop lines on each machine. They provide a means of removing contamination from the hydraulic system fluid.Filtration of the hydraulic high pressure loop lines, when done in conjunction with normal hydraulic system maintenance, can help prolong seal life and the life of other wearing parts as well as aiding in smooth valve and control actuation.Should an implement such as a pump, motor, or hydraulic cylinder fail, contamination from the failure may enter the system. Extreme failures may require disassembly of implements and valves to insure proper system clean-up. Fluid that has been used for more than 2000 hours or fluid that has been very hot (burned) should be changed. This procedure is intended to filter contaminated oil down to 6 micron absolute rating. It is important to note that these filtration procedures will not inhibit metal producing wear on parts internal to the system nor will it remove any current mechanical problems associated with the machine hydraulic system.Do not perform any procedure outlined in this publication or order any parts until you read and understand the information contained within.Clean all frame surfaces where tooling is to be installed.

Disconnect one of the high pressure flexible hoses in between the pump and the motor and connect the filter onto the flexible hoses (refer to added drawings). In the case of maintenance operations filtration must be carried out before dismantling or replacing parts. If the filtration is not carried out before dismantling, the impurities in the circuit will cause the new components to deteriorate after reassembly. It is advisable to carry out filtration before the hydraulic system is put back into operation. An inbuilt clogging device indicates when the filter cartridge needs replacing.
