Inside Drum Assembly
(1) Eccentric weightOn double-drum machines, the drum assemblies each contain one eccentric weight (1). The eccentric weight is directly connected to the vibratory motor through a splined coupling.When the vibratory system is operating, the vibratory motor rotates eccentric weight (1).The mass of the eccentric weight is offset from the center of the shaft. Rotation of the weight causes the drum or drums to vibrate.The vibratory frequency is determined by engine speed. There are two engine speeds that allow the machine to vibrate. When the engine operates at high idle of 2500 rpm, the vibratory frequency is 3600 vibrations/min. When the engine operates at the intermediate setting of 2000 rpm, the vibratory frequency is 2900 vibrations/min.
