The piston slipper thickness for all piston assemblies in the pump must not vary more than 0.010 mm (0.0004 in) between the thickest and thinnest dimensions.
The slipper surface finish must be 0.20 to
0.63 mm (8 to 25 m in).
The depth of dimension (T) in Illustration 4 must be between 0.75 and 0.40 mm (0.030 and 0.016 in).

The fit between the piston assembly and barrel bore must be between 0.050 and 0.060 mm (.0020 and .0024 in). Dimensions (D) minus (d) equals the dimension that must be within the range.

Port Plate
The port plate thickness must be a minimum of 6.6 mm (.26 in). The face indicated in Illustration 6 must have a surface finish of 0.20 mm (8 m in). The port plate flatness must not be greater than 0.005 mm (.0002 in).

Pump Shaft
The output spline diameter of the pump shaft must measure between 44.56 and 45.67 mm (1.754 and 1.798 in) over pins. Use two 4C-5853 Pins, 4.57 mm (.180 in) diameter, for the spline measurement. These pins are not an actual pump part but a tooling device and can be ordered through Caterpillar Parts system.

(7) Output
Shoe Retainer
The minimum height of the shoe retainer must be 12.5 mm (.49 in) after lapping. Remove wear marks from the bottom face of the shoe retainer by touch lapping, if they exceed 0.10 mm (.004 in) depth. See Illustration 8.

Drum Seal
The drum seal may be touched lapped to remove marks. The depth of the drum seal groove must be a minimum of 0.7 mm (.03 in).

Valve Plate
Wear grooves, formed on the valve plate by the drum seal, may be removed by touch lapping if they exceed 0.03 mm (.001 in) depth. The surface finish of the surface that contacts the drum seal must be 0.20 mm (8 m in).

(11) Wear grooves
Cam Plate
The sliding surface of the cam plate can be touch lapped to produce a finish of 0.20 to 0.63 mm (8 to 25 m in). The minimum allowable height of dimension (H) after touch lapping is 4.5 mm (.18 in).
