Adjustment should be made if a gap that is greater than 1 mm (0.040 inch) is measured between the wear pad of the extender and the outer wall of the main frame of the screed.

Measure the wear pads (1) on the extender. Replace the wear pads if the wear pads are less than 2 mm (0.08 inch).
Measure the thickness of the main frame of the screed.

Place a straight edge across the wear pads in the three indicated positions. Measure the distance from the extender frame to the straight edge. Average the three dimensions.
Add the thickness of the main frame of the screed that is measured in step 3 to the average that is calculated in step 4. Set all four adjusters to this dimension (A) .

To set the adjusters, loosen jam nut (2). Turn adjuster (3) clockwise in order to increase the height of the adjuster. Turn adjuster (3) counterclockwise in order to decrease the height of the adjuster. Tighten the jam nut (2) .
Install the right extender carriage. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Extender Carriage - Install".
Repeat this procedure for the left extender.
