The type of the magnet, the type of the material, and the consistency will change the setting. The dial setting is usually higher for larger magnets. Usually, the range switch should be in the OFF position for magnets that are rated for 110 amperes or less. This switch should only be turned to the ON position when a clean drop cannot be achieved at any dial setting in the OFF position. Usually, the range switch should be in the ON position for magnets that are rated for 111 amperes or greater. Adjustment Procedure
If material remains attached to the magnet after the magnet drop switch (2) is activated, the settings for the magnet controller may require adjustment. The switch should be momentarily depressed and then released only once per each lift and drop cycle. Refer to Illustration 2 or Illustration 3 for the location of the magnet drop switch on the left implement control lever. The adjustment for the drop and clean process is made by turning the rotary dial switch. The switch is located in the magnet controller monitor panel on the operator monitor panel. Illustration 4 shows the location of the drop and clean switch. The drop and clean adjustment switch has eight selectable positions that are identified by indents. The various positions are used to compensate for different size magnets. Typically smaller diameter magnets require a lower dial setting and larger diameter magnets require a higher dial setting. The various positions are also used to compensate for different materials and material densities. Typically fine texture, light materials require a lower dial setting. Coarse texture, heavy materials require a higher dial setting.Use the procedure that follows in order to correctly set the drop and clean adjustment for the magnet:
Set the drop and clean switch to the lowest setting.
Cycle the magnet through a minimum of three lift and drop cycles.
Do not cycle the same load of material when performing this procedure. The material will become magnetized from the repeated handling.
If the material does not completely release from the magnet, increase the drop and clean adjustment switch setting by one position and repeat Step 2.
Repeat Step 4 sequentially increasing the drop and clean adjustment switch setting until the material completely releases. It may be necessary to set the range switch if the material does not
