Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the main drive shaft. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Main Drive Shaft - Remove and Install".
Remove the torque converter outlet relief valve. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Torque Converter Outlet Relief Valve - Remove".
Remove the bottom guard. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Bottom Guard - Remove".
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Note: Put identification marks on all hoses, on all hose assemblies, on all wires, and on all tube assemblies for installation purposes. Plug all hose assemblies and all tube assemblies. This helps to prevent fluid loss, and this helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.

Remove floorplates (1) .
Drain the oil from the torque converter housing into a suitable container.

Disconnect hose assembly (2) and hose assembly (5) .
Remove bolts (3). Disconnect harness assembly (4) .

Disconnect hose assembly (6) and hose assembly (7) .

Disconnect hose assembly (8). Remove tube assemblies (9) .

Remove elbow (13). Remove bracket (11).
Use a suitable lifting device in order to support torque converter (10). The weight of torque converter (10) is approximately 193 kg (425 lb).
Remove bolts (12). Remove torque converter (10) .
