Introduction
This Special Instruction provides the procedure for troubleshooting poor air conditioner performance due to leakage through the water valve. Any coolant that is leaking through the valve allows continuous output from the heater. This also affects the air conditioner's ability to cool. This procedure will help the technician to determine if the valve is operating properly.Troubleshooting Procedure
Illustration 1 g01515211
(A) 206-1682 Control Panel (B) 189-0881 Control
Remove control panel (A) with control (B) from the 206-1700 Operator Console Gp (RH). See Illustration 1.Note: Use caution as you remove control panel (A) in order to prevent damage to the attached wiring.
Illustration 2 g01515212
(B) 189-0881 Control (C) 193-3356 Cable As
Disconnect cable assembly (C) from control (B) by removing the wire loop from the pin on the lever arm. See Illustration 2.
Illustration 3 g01515280
Rotate the temperature control knob to the fully counterclockwise position. This is the maximum cold position. See Illustration 3.
Illustration 4 g01515293
Pull the inner wire of the cable assembly toward the pin on the lever arm. The wire loop should be short of fitting on the pin on the lever arm by 3 mm (0.19 inch) to 5 mm (0.20 inch), as shown. See Illustration 4.Note: This gap ensures that the water valve is completely closed when the temperature control knob is positioned at the maximum cold position. If the gap between the wire loop and the pin is not 3 mm (0.19 inch) to 5 mm (0.20 inch), remove the clamp (D) on controller (B) and adjust the position of cable housing (C) to a gap of 3 mm (0.19 inch) to 5 mm (0.20 inch). Then, reinstall clamp (D). Refer to Illustration 5.

(A) 206-1682 Control Panel (B) 189-0881 Control (C) 193-3356 Cable As (D) 129-1831 Clamp
Rotate the temperature control clockwise so that the wire loop can be installed on the pin.
Reinstall control panel (A) back into the 206-1700 Operator Console Gp (RH) .Note: If it was necessary for you to adjust the cable, identify the 193-3356 Cable As as the part that is causing failure.
