Installation Procedure
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Note: Be sure that the pin bores of the boom swing cylinder and the pins are thoroughly clean prior to installation.

Apply a thin coat of 1P-0808 Multipurpose Grease on the diameter of the pin bores and on the pins of the boom swing cylinder. Use a suitable lifting device to support the boom swing cylinder into position. The Weight of the boom cylinder is approximately 45 kg (100 lb).
Position the machine in order to install the boom swing cylinder.

Remove the plugs. Connect hose assembly (2) onto the boom swing cylinder.
Connect hose assembly (3) onto the boom swing cylinder.Hose assembly (3) is the grease hose.

Remove the plugs. Connect hose assembly (1) onto the boom swing cylinder.

Install pin assembly (6) into the boom swing cylinder.
Install bolt (4) and washer (5) into the pin assembly.

Attach a suitable lifting device to the rod end of boom swing cylinder (7) in order to stabilize the cylinder.

Install pin assembly (8) into the boom swing cylinder.
Install spacer (9), washer (10 ), and bolt (11) into pin assembly (8) .
