Which Generate This Code:This diagnostic code is recorded when the all wheel drive (AWD) ECM is communicating with the Implement 2 ECM, but not receiving certain expected information. FMI 14 means that the AWD ECM and the Implement ECM 2 are communicating, but the AWD ECM is not receiving expected operating parameter information.Some conditions that can cause this diagnostic code are listed below:
Incorrect Implement ECM 2 ECM software
Incorrect AWD ECM software
New ECM with an incorrect part number has been installed.

Verify that the following is correct:

Implement ECM 2 software part number
AWD ECM part number

OK - All hardware and software part numbers are correct. Proceed to Test Step 2.
NOT OK - All hardware and software part numbers are not correct. Repair: Replace the incorrect hardware or software with the correct version. For replacing ECMs, see Testing and Adjusting, "Electronic Control Module (ECM) - Replace"For flashing software, see Testing and Adjusting, "Electronic Control Module (ECM) - Flash Program". Proceed to Test Step 2.Test Step 2. CHECK THE STATUS OF THE DIAGNOSTIC CODE
Turn on the disconnect switch and the keyswitch.
Operate the machine.
Check the status of the CID 1558 FMI 14 diagnostic code.Expected Result:CID 1558 FMI 14 is not active. Results:
OK - CID 1558 FMI 14 is not active. Repair: The diagnostic code may have been caused by a problem during start-up with one of the controls of the ECM. Resume normal operation.STOP
NOT OK - CID 1558 FMI 14 is active. The AWD ECM may have failed, however, ECM failure is unlikely.Repair: Exit this procedure. Perform this procedure again. If the failure is not found, contact your Cat dealer. If ECM replacement is required, see Testing and Adjusting, "Electronic Control Module (ECM) - Replace".STOP
