Make sure that you do not scratch or mar the valve seats on insert (30) .
Use a 6.4 mm (.25 inch) nonmetallic dowel in order to push insert (30) and spool (31) from the bore of housing (10).
Remove spool (31) from insert (30). Remove O-ring (28) and remove O-ring (29) from insert (30) .
Loosen nut (37). Remove screw (38) from housing (10). Remove O-ring (39) from screw (38) .
Remove the following items from the bore of housing (10) : spring (40), poppet (41), seat (42), O-ring (43), washer (44) and filter (45) .
Depress plug (47) and remove retaining ring (46) from housing (54) .
Remove the following items from the bore of housing (54) : plug (47), spring (50) and stop (51). Remove O-ring (49) and remove backup ring (48) from plug (47) .
Remove spool (53) from housing (54). Access spool (53) from either large port.
Remove O-ring (52) from spool (53) .
Depress plug (57) and remove retaining ring (46). Remove plug (57) from housing (54) .
Remove O-ring (55) and backup ring (56) from plug (57) .
Remove capscrews (59) and (63). Remove lock washers (60) .
Separate housing (10) and housing (54) .
Remove O-rings (61) and (62) .Assembly

Items with a dot are included in the 148-3573 Repair Kit .
Install new O-rings (61) and (62) in the proper grooves on housing (54) .
Use capscrews (59) and (63) and lockwashers (60) in order to assemble housing (10) to housing (54). Tighten the capscrews to a torque of 33 3 N m (24.5 2.5 lb ft).
Install new backup ring (56) and a new O-ring (55) on plug (57). Make sure that plug (57) is installed in the proper direction.
Install a new retaining ring (58) in the bore of housing (54) .
Install new O-ring (52) on spool (53). Insert the spool in the bore of housing (54). Make sure that the spool is all the way in the bore. The spool should contact the plug on the opposite end of the housing.
Install spring (50) and stop (51) into housing (54) .
Install new backup ring (48) and new O-ring (49) on plug (47). Install plug (47) into the bore of housing (54). Make sure that plug (47) is installed in the proper direction.
Install a new retaining ring (46) in the bore of housing (54) .
Install the following items in the bore of housing (10) : spring (40), new poppet (41), seat (42), new O-ring (43), washer (44) and new filter (45) .
Install new O-ring (39) on screw (38). Then, install screw (38) into housing (10). Tighten the screw to a torque of 27 3 N m (20 2 lb ft).
Install nut (37) onto screw (38). Tighten the screw to a torque of 47 4 N m (35 3 lb ft).
Install new O-rings (28) and (29) onto insert (30) .
Install spool (31) into insert (30). Carefully install insert (30) into housing (10) .
Insert ball (32) into the bore of housing (10) .
