Which Generate This Code:This fault is indicated when the ECM detects a fault to ground. The short is in the path from the ECM to the coil. When this fault exits, the ride control is disabled. Connector contact 37 relates to this fault.Note: The following steps may create other indicated faults. Clear these faults when the original fault is corrected.Test Step 1. CHECK THE RELAY
Turn the start switch to the OFF position.
Remove the ride control relay from the socket.
Measure the resistance from terminal 85 to terminal 86.Expected Result:The resistance is greater than 5 ohms.Results:
NO - Repair: Replace the relay. Stop.
YES - The resistance is greater than 5 ohms. Proceed to test step 2.Test Step 2. CHECK THE HARNESS CIRCUIT
Clean the relay terminals. Clean the socket.
Install the relay.
Disconnect the harness connector from the ECM.
Measure the resistance from contact 37 to contact 39.Expected Result:The resistance should be greater than 5 ohms.Results:
NO - The resistance is less than 5 ohms. The signal wire is shorted to ground somewhere in the harness.Repair: Fix the harness or replace the harness. Stop.
YES - The resistance is greater than 5 ohms. Proceed to step 3.Test Step 3. CHECK IF THE FAULT REMAINS
Inspect the connector. Reconnect the connector.
Turn the start switch to ON.
Enter the service mode.
Operate the machine.
Check if the original fault is active.Expected Result:The fault is not active.Results:
NO - The fault has not been corrected. Repair: Perform the previous steps. If the cause of the fault is not found, replace the control. Stop.
YES - The fault has been corrected. The fault was probably caused by a poor electrical connection. Resume normal machine operation. Stop.
