Service Mode 1
When the ECM detects an abnormal condition for a component in the propel system, a diagnostic code for that component will become active. The diagnostic code is used to specify which component in the propel system is causing the problem. The diagnostic code consists of two identifiers which are the CID and the FMI. The identifiers are alternately shown on the readout. The CID is shown first for one second and then the FMI is shown for one second. The active codes can be viewed, scrolled and cleared while in mode 1. Component Identifier (CID)The CID tells which component in the propel system is causing the problem. The CID is a three digit code shown on the readout. For a complete list of CID codes for the Propel Electronic Control System, refer to the Troubleshooting, "Diagnostic Code List" module in this manual.Failure Mode Identifier (FMI)The FMI identifier indicates what condition for the component has occurred. The FMI is a two digit code preceded by the letter “F”. When a diagnostic code is active, An FMI identifier code will always be displayed with the CID identifier. The diagnostic code present indicator on the right side of the display (1) shows the status of the diagnostic code that is presently being shown on the readout. Indicator ON means the diagnostic code is present (active) at this time. Indicator OFF means the diagnostic code has occurred , however, it is NOT present (inactive) at this time.Upon entering service mode; the CID FMI code for the first active code is shown. At this time, the diagnostic code that is displayed is “on-hold”. When a service code is “on-hold”, the diagnostic code is shown continuously with the readout alternately showing the CID and then the FMI. This is maintained as long as the display mode switch remains in the HOLD position. Troubleshooting and clearing may be performed while the diagnostic code is displayed and “on-hold”.Clearing a service code removes it from the memory of the ECM. When a diagnostic is corrected (diagnostic code present indicator is OFF), it is necessary to remove the code from the memory of the ECM. The ECM does not allow clearing the diagnostic code that is active. After a diagnostic code is cleared, the next active diagnostic code is shown on the display.Reference: For more information on how to access, scroll and clear diagnostic codes, refer to the Troubleshooting, "Accessing Diagnostic Information" module in this manual.Diagnostic Example
