Information:


Remove the heater from the opening in the cab.Note: Carefully remove the heater from the cab so the heater coil does not become damaged. Damaged coils will cause leakage.

Remove the plate (9) from the heater (7) .

Install the evaporator coil (10) below the heater coil (11) .
Install the insulation in order to replace the plate (9) that was removed.
Install the heater/air conditioner unit in the cab.Note: The wiring harness may be hidden within the blower assembly.
Route the wiring harness through the back of the blower assembly.
Replace the blower assembly onto the support assembly. Attach the wires to the switch assembly.
Connect all hoses and tubes for the heater/air conditioner unit in the cab.Installation of the Condenser Cores for the 938F and IT38F
The following instructions are for the 938F and IT38F. Continue installation with the section "Installation of Air Conditioning Lines and Components".
Drain the coolant from the radiator into a suitable container for storage or for disposal.

Remove the lock pins (12) .
Remove the radiator access door (13) .

Remove the radiator top (14) .
Remove the baffle (15), four bolts and four washers (16) .

Insert two condenser core assemblies (17). Secure the core assemblies with the appropriate hardware.
Replace the six end tank seals (18) .
Install the eight mounts (19) in the top holes of the radiator core.
Replace the radiator top (14) .Installation of Air Conditioning Lines and Components
For specific information for the routing of the lines and component location and part numbers, refer to the Custom Parts Manual, SEBC1243. The following instructions are for all models which are included in this Special Instruction.
Do not allow any dirt or foreign material to get into the hydraulic system during assembly, connection of lines, when components are filled with fluid, or during any maintenance operation.

Install the refrigerant compressor (20). Orient the compressor so the nameplate is visible from the right side of the machine. Do not tighten the bolts until the compressor drive belt is installed and adjusted.Note: Tighten the belt to a tension of 535 22 N (120 5 lb). Use a Caterpillar 144-0235 Belt Tension Gauge . Operate the air conditioner for approximately 30 minutes. Then adjust the tension of the compressor drive belt to 400 44 N (90 10 lb).
Connect the discharge and the suction hoses to the discharge and suction ports on the compressor.
Connect the electrical wires to the magnetic clutch.

Install the air conditioner condenser in front of the radiator.

Install the air conditioner accumulator (21) onto the frame.

Install the air conditioner dryer (23) onto the frame.
For 938F and IT38F refer to Disassembly & Assembly, SENR6714, "Remove & Install Air Conditioner Dryer"
Monitor the direction of flow at all times, when the lines are being connected to the components.
Refill radiator coolant.
Charge the system. Refer to Service Manual, SENR5664, "Refrigerant System-Charge".
Reinstall the radiator access door and lock pins.
Reinstall the cab panels and hardware.
Once the installation is complete, the air conditioner will automatically activate when the fan is turned on.
