Problem
The contacts on certain 8D6947 and 9G5589 Switches may burn and cause the switch to stay on or off.
Action Required
Check the date codes on the side of all 8D6947 and 9G5589 Switches in parts stock. Remove all of these switches from parts stock that do not have a date code or that have a date code that is 100 or less. This code is stamped on the side of the switch housing.
Service Claim Allowances
Submit one claim for all 8D6947 and 9G5589 Switches removed from parts stock.
Parts Disposition
Any parts removed (with the exception of cores used for Caterpillar Remanufactured parts) can be rendered useless and scrapped immediately upon completion of the repair.
