Disassembly Procedure
Start By:
Remove the coupler cylinder.
Cylinders equipped with lock valves can remain pressurized for very long periods of time, even with the hoses removed.Failure to relieve pressure before removing a lock valve or disassembling a cylinder can result in personal injury or death.Ensure all pressure is relieved before removing a lock valve or disassembling a cylinder.
Illustration 1 g06284041Note: Valve damage or seal damage may occur if the oil pressure is not fully released.
Slowly loosen purge screw (1) to release oil pressure from the coupler cylinder.
Illustration 2 g06284042
Remove counterbalance valve (2).
Illustration 3 g06284043
Remove plugs (3) and the O-ring seals.
Illustration 4 g06284044
Remove bolts (4). Remove rod assembly (6), head assembly (5), and the piston as a unit from the cylinder assembly.Note: Use two people to remove the rod assembly, the head assembly, and the piston if the combined weight exceeds 23 kg (50 lb). Refer Table 1 for the combined weight of the rod assembly, the head assembly, and the piston.
