10     2     9P-1478 Shim Pack     As required, use shim pack of thickness of
2.7 mm (0.11 inch) in order to obtain backlash. Use the following procedure to obtain the backlash:    
1. Prevent the pinion from rotating with an appropriate threaded fixture (1) .
2. While you set the backlash, tighten the fixture to the maximum of
7 N m (62 lb in).
3. Remove the fixture.
4. Check the backlash after removing end clearance in the bearing assembly, the backlash must be
0.20 to 0.42 mm (0.008 to 0.017 inch).
5. Measure the backlash on three equally spaced teeth.
6. Teeth spacing should not more than
0.15 mm (0.006 inch).
