Connections of the position sensor for the blade sideshift The position sensor of the blade sideshift is located in the right joystick. The sensor provides an input signal to the ECM that is dependent on the position of the joystick handle. This diagnostic code is activated when the input signal voltage from the position sensor of the blade sideshift is below normal. The position sensor of the blade sideshift receives power from the 10 V power supply of the Transmission/Chassis ECM and the 10 V power supply of the Implement ECM. The position sensor of the blade sideshift is connected to ground that is supplied by the 10 V sensor return of the Transmission/Chassis ECM and to the ground that is supplied by the 10 V sensor return of the Implement ECM. The sensor will stop functioning if both power supplies and both grounds are lost. The illustration above indicates the power and ground connections for the position sensor.Note: For a schematic of the internal power and ground assignments for each individual component in the right joystick, refer to the Systems Operation, "Features" section of this manual.The position sensor is a PWM sensor that operates at a frequency of 500 100 Hz. The position sensor sends a PWM input signal to the ECM. The duty cycle of the signal will vary from 10% to 90%. The variations in the duty cycle of the signal follow:
When the joystick is at the FULL LEFT position, the duty cycle will be approximately 10%.
When the joystick is at the FULL RIGHT position, the duty cycle will be approximately 90%.
When the joystick is in the CENTER position, the duty cycle will be approximately 50%.The possible causes of this diagnostic code are listed:
The signal circuit is shorted to ground.
The sensor has failed.
The ECM has failed. This is unlikely. Note: Before performing this procedure, inspect the harness connectors that are involved in the circuit. Poor connections can often be the cause of a problem in an electrical circuit. Inspect the connections for the following:
Connections are clean.
Connections are secure.
Connections are in good condition.Note: If a problem with a connection is found, correct the problem and verify that this diagnostic code is active before performing this procedure.Note: The following test procedure may create other diagnostic codes. Turn the disconnect switch and the key start switch to the ON position.
