Removal Procedure
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Do not remove the priority valve while the engine is hot. Hot oil can cause burns.
Allow the engine to cool after the engine is shut down. The volume of oil that is above the following components can drain past the priority valve to the oil pan: the priority valve, the oil filters and the oil cooler.

Disconnect the tube (5).
Disconnect the elbow (3) and drain the oil from the elbow. Open the drain valves on the oil filters.
Move the elbow assembly downward in order to allow clearance for the priority valve to be removed. Lubricate the seals before installation.
Remove the clamp bolt (2).
Remove the tube (1) from the priority valve.
Remove the bolts in order to disconnect the tube (6).
Remove the clamp bolt (4).
Remove six bolts (7).
Remove the priority valve from the front housing.

Remove the O-ring seals (8) from the front housing. Replace the seals.
