If the torque converter 5K-8591 Bearing fails, inspect the bearing journal on the 6Y-3148 Output Shaft . If the length of the journal is too short, an inadequate pilot will be provided for the 6V-4351 Inner Race Plate . This can cause the 6V-4351 Inner Race Plate to be assembled off-center. The 6V-4351 Inner Race Plate will rub against the bearing cage if the plate is off-center. When the plate rubs the bearing cage, debris is created. The debris will reduce the life of the bearing.Solution

View of the measurement for the bearing journalInspect the 6Y-3148 Output Shaft in order to make sure that the bearing journal is long enough to provide a pilot for the 6V-4351 Inner Race Plate . The specification on the print is 27 0.5 mm (1.063 0.020 inch). However, any dimension over 24.5 mm (0.96 inch) is adequate.
