- - - Lubricate the camshaft bearings with clean engine oil before you install the camshaft.
- - - Lubricate the camshaft lobes with a 50/50 mixture of 8T-2998 Lubricant and clean engine oil.
1 - - Maximum exhaust lobe lift at zero degrees is 8.51521 mm (0.335240 inch).
2 - - Maximum injector lobe lift at zero degrees is 10.33656 mm (0.406950 inch).
3 - - Maximum inlet lobe lift at zero degrees is 9.62499 mm (0.378940 inch).
- - - Use the following procedure to find the actual lobe lift (B):
1. Measure the camshaft lobe height (C).
- - - 2. Measure the base circle (D).
- - - 3. Subtract the base circle measurement in Step 2 from the camshaft lobe height in Step 1. The difference is the actual lobe lift (B).
- - - The maximum permissible difference between the actual lobe lift in Step 3 and the specified camshaft lobe lift of a new camshaft is 0.10 mm ( 0.0034 inch).
