Use a grinder in order to clean the welding area of plate assembly (26) and the adjoining surfaces on the bottom of the body assembly. Completely remove all paint, rust, scale, slag, and moisture before welding.
Position plate assembly (26) on the bottom of left-hand body assembly (2) in the location that is shown in Illustration 81.
Once plate assembly (26) is aligned correctly, tack weld plate assembly (26) to left-hand body assembly (2) .Note: Before tack welding, preheat the welding areas to the proper temperature. Refer to ""Welding Instructions"". Use 164-3310 Infrared Thermometer in order to check for the proper preheat temperature.

Use a suitable lifting device in order to place plates (28) on the body assemblies. Locate plates (28) in the location that is shown. The approximate weigh of plate (28) is 12.06 kg (26.60 lb).
Once plates (28) are aligned correctly, tack weld plates (28) to left-hand body assembly (2) and right-hand body assembly (3) .Note: Before tack welding, preheat the welding areas to the proper temperature.
