PLUG 3555804 - Caterpillar

Start By:
Raise the truck body and install the retaining cable. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Truck Body Retaining Cable - Remove and Install".
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
The space between the body and the frame becomes a zero clearance area when the body is lowered. Failure to install the retaining cable can result in injury or death to personnel working in this area.

Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device onto body and canopy (1). The weight of body and canopy (1) is approximately 67000 kg (148000 lb). Repeat this procedure for the opposite side of body and canopy (1).Note: The weights listed in this document are approximate weights. Truck bodies can very in size and weight. Refer to the Machine Shipping Order (MSO) that was shipped with the truck body for specific weights.

Position suitable blocking between body and canopy (1) and frame (2). Repeat this procedure for the opposite side of body and canopy (1).
Remove the retaining cable and lower body and canopy (1) onto the suitable blocking. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Truck Body Retaining Cable - Remove and Install".
If necessary, remove the mud flaps.

Remove retaining cables (3).

Use a suitable lifting device to support rock ejector (4). The weight of rock ejector (4) is approximately 115 kg (254 lb).
Remove cotter (5), pin (6), washer (7), and rock ejector (4).
Repeat Step 6 and Step 7 for the remaining rock ejector.

Disconnect hose assembly (8). Remove clips (9). Position hose assembly (8) out of the way.
Repeat Step 9 and Step 8 for the remaining hose assembly.

Use Tooling (B) and a suitable lifting device to support hoist cylinder (9). The weight of hoist cylinder (9) is approximately 1150 kg (2535 lb).
Remove bolts (10), plate (11), pin assembly (12), and spacers (13). The weight of pin assembly (12) is approximately 23 kg (50 lb).
Repeat Step 11 and Step 12 for the remaining hoist cylinder.
Retract and secure hoist cylinders (9).

Disconnect position sensor (14).

Remove bolts (15).
Remove plate (16).
Use Tooling (C) and a suitable lifting device to remove pin assembly (17). The weight of pin assembly (17) is approximately 41 kg (90 lb).
Remove washer (18).
Repeat Steps 16 through 19 for the remaining hinge pin.

Remove body and canopy (1).
