Ensure that all adjustments and repairs that are carried out to the fuel system are performed by authorized personnel that have the correct training.Before beginning ANY work on the fuel system, refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "General Hazard Information and High Pressure Fuel Lines" for safety information. Refer to System Operation, Testing and Adjusting, "Cleanliness of Fuel System Components" for detailed information on the standards of cleanliness that must be observed during ALL work on the fuel system.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
The engine can start automatically. Ensure that the power supply is isolated before any service or repairs is performed.
Turn the fuel supply to the OFF position.

Remove bolts (1) and remove cover (2).

Remove bolts (4) from the clips for tube assembly (5).
Disconnect tube assembly (5) from the secondary fuel filter and fuel priming pump (8).Use Tooling (A) to cap the tube assembly.
Remove O-ring seal (3) (not shown) and O-ring seal (6) (not shown). Use Tooling (A) to cap the secondary fuel filter and the fuel priming pump.
Disconnect hose assembly (10) from fuel priming pump (8). Use Tooling (A) to plug the hose assembly and to cap the fuel priming pump.
Disconnect harness assembly (7) from fuel priming pump (8).
Remove bolts (9) from fuel priming pump (8). Remove the fuel priming pump from the bracket.

If necessary, follow Step 2.a through Step 3 to disassemble fuel priming pump (8).
Remove connection (12) from fuel priming pump (8).
Remove O-ring seal (13) (not shown). Installation Procedure
Ensure that the fuel priming pump is clean and free from wear or damage. If necessary, replace the fuel priming pump as an assembly.

If necessary, follow Step 2.a through Step 2.b to assemble fuel priming pump (8).
Install a new O-ring seal (13) (not shown) to connection (12).
Install connection (12) to fuel priming pump (8). Tighten the connection to a torque of 30 N m (266 lb in).

Position fuel priming pump (8) onto the bracket. Install bolts (9) to the fuel priming pump hand tight.
Remove the caps from the secondary fuel filter and fuel priming pump (8). Install a new O-ring seal (3) (not shown) and a new O-ring seal (6) (not shown) to the connections on the secondary fuel filter and the fuel priming pump. Ensure that the O-ring seals are correctly installed into the recesses of the connections.
Remove the caps from tube assembly (5). Connect the tube assembly to the secondary fuel filter and fuel priming pump (8) hand tight.
Position the clips onto tube assembly (5) and install bolts (4) hand tight.
Tighten
