Information:
There are four options for installation that are available. Use one of the following options when the engine is equipped with an electrical system:
Alternator terminal "R"
Oil pressure switch
Key start switchIf the engine does not have an electrical system, use a magnetic pickup in the flywheel housing.Important Safety Information
Work safely. Most accidents that involve product operation, maintenance, and repair are caused by failure to observe basic safety rules or precautions. An accident can often be avoided by recognizing potentially hazardous situations before an accident occurs.A person must be alert to potential hazards. This person should also have the necessary training, skills, and tools in order to perform these functions properly.Safety precautions and warnings are provided in this instruction and on the product. If these hazard warnings are not heeded, bodily injury or death could occur to you or to other persons. Caterpillar cannot anticipate every possible circumstance that might involve a potential hazard. Therefore, the warnings in this publication and the warnings that are on the product are not all inclusive. If a tool, a procedure, a work method, or operating technique that is not specifically recommended by Caterpillar is used, you must ensure that it is safe for you and for other people to use.You should ensure that the product will not be damaged or the product will be made unsafe by the operation, lubrication, maintenance, or the repair procedures that are used.
Accidental engine starting can cause injury or death to personnel working on the equipment. To avoid accidental engine starting, disconnect the battery cable from the negative (−) battery terminal. Completely tape all metal surfaces of the disconnected battery cable end in order to prevent contact with other metal surfaces which could activate the engine electrical system.Place a Do Not Operate tag at the Start/Stop switch location to inform personnel that the equipment is being worked on.

Quantity    Part Number    Description
1     6L-2845     Mounting Bracket
2     1B-7182     Bolts
2     5S-0003     Nuts
2     9M-1974     Hard Washers
1     285-9075     Service Meter Gp    Note: Miscellaneous parts such as ring terminals will be needed in order to connect to other components.Replacement Procedure
Note: Leave the 5S-9086 Service Meter Gp installed in order to protect the opening from debris and corrosion.
Select a location for the service meter. Install the 6L-2845 Mounting Bracket with two 1B-7182 Bolts , two 5S-0003 Nuts and two 9M-1974 Hard Washers .
Insert the 285-9075 Service Meter Gp into the mounting hole. Screw the 304-5303 Special Nut onto the body of the meter.Note: Decide whether the meter will be installed with two wires or installed with three wires. A two-wire installation will allow the display on the meter to be read only when the meter is receiving a signal to the "s" terminal. The engine must be running in order for the signal to be sent to the "s" terminal. For the three-wire
