Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Inspect the cylinder liner. Refer to Guideline for Reusable Parts, SEBF8068, "Cylinder Liners".

Measure the groove depth of the gasket at four places. The depth of the groove must be 3.50 0.05 mm (0.138 0.002 inch). The depth of the groove must not vary more than 0.02 mm (0.001 inch).

Measure the thickness of the cylinder liner flange at four places. The thickness of the flange must be 33.00 0.03 mm (1.299 0.001 inch). The thickness of the flange must not vary more than 0.013 mm (0.0005 inch).

Use a dial bore gauge to measure the inside diameter of cylinder liner at four locations. The cylinder liner should be measured at two points that are separated by 90 degrees at each location. The inside diameter of a new cylinder liner is 300.025 0.025 mm (11.8120 0.0010 inch).

Remove the rust and/or deposits from the outside surface of the cylinder liner. Use glass beads or a wire brush.
Thoroughly clean the cylinder liner bore in the cylinder block. Apply liquid soap of P80 rubber lubricant on the sealing surfaces.
Install O-ring seal (2) and O-ring seals (3) on cylinder liner (1).
Apply liquid soap or P80 rubber lubricant on the O-ring seals.
Fasten Tooling (B) and a suitable lifting device to cylinder liner (1).
Carefully lower the cylinder liner into the cylinder block. Lower the cylinder liner until the lower O-ring seals of the cylinder liner enter the seal bore in the cylinder block.
Remove Tooling (B). Tap the top of the cylinder liner with a large rubber mallet to seat the cylinder liner in the cylinder block. Tooling (C) is also available to seat the cylinder liner in the cylinder block.End By:
Install the piston and connecting rods.
