Remove Oil Pump Drive
start by: a) remove range transmission and transfer drive 1. Remove the oil line (2).2. Fasten a hoist to oil pump drive.3. Remove the bolts (1) and nuts (3) that hold pump drive in place.4. Remove the oil pump drive. Weight of pump drive is 175 lb. (79 kg).Install Oil Pump Drive
1. Fasten a hoist and put the oil pump drive in position on transfer drive.2. Install the bolts and nuts that hold pump drive in place.3. Install the oil line.end by: a) install range transmission and transfer driveDisassemble Oil Pump Drive
start by: a) remove oil pump drive 1. Remove the nuts from yokes (1) and (2). 2. Use tooling (A) to remove the two yokes. 3. Remove the keys (3) from each end of shaft.4. Remove the bolts (4) from cage. 5. Use two 3/8"-16NC forcing screws to remove the bearing cage (6) and shims (5) from pump drive housing. Put identification on shims for use during assembly of pump drive. 6. Use tooling (B) to remove the seal from bearing cage. 7. Use a hammer and punch to remove the bearing cup from cage. 8. Remove the drive gear assembly (7) from pump drive housing. 9. Use tooling (C) to remove the two bearing cones from drive gear assembly.10. Remove the transmission scavenge pump from pump drive housing. 11. Remove the transmission oil pump (9). 12. Remove the base (10) from transmission oil pump.13. Use tooling (D) to remove the bearing assembly from base (10). 14. Remove the driven gear (8). Use tooling (E) to remove the bearing races from driven gear. 15. Remove the lip-type seal (12), bearing cup (13), and bearing assembly (11) from housing.Assemble Oil Pump Drive
1. Use tooling (A) to install the bearing cup in pump drive housing. Make sure the bearing cup is against the bottom of bore in housing. 2. Use tooling (B) to install the seal in housing with the lip of seal toward the bearing cup. Put clean oil on lip of seal. 3. Use tooling (C) to install the bearing assembly in housing. 4. Heat the bearing races (2) in oil at a maximum temperature of 275°F (135°C). Install the races on driven gear (1). Make sure the races are against the shoulder of gear. 5. Use tooling (C) to install the bearing assembly in base (3).6. Install the base (3) on transmission oil pump. 7. Install the driven gear (1) in pump drive housing. 8. Install the transmission oil pump (4). Install the transmission scavenge pump (5). 9. Heat the bearing cones (7) for driving gear in oil at a maximum temperature of 275°F (135°C).
