Coasting in Neutral
Coasting in neutral is not recommended at high speeds. A warning buzzer will activate inside the cab if your machine is coasting in neutral at a speed above 10 km/h (6.2 mph).Transmission Control (If equipped)
For frequent downhill operations, the transmission control has a feature for neutral coasting in order to prevent the machine from overspeeding. Refer to Service Manual, "Power Train Troubleshooting/ Testing & Adjusting" for additional information. The feature for neutral coasting is turned on as a factory setting. If this function is not desired, turn off this function in Electronic Technician (ET).When this feature is activated, the transmission control will not allow the transmission to shift into NEUTRAL when the machine speed is above 12 km/h (7.5 mph). If the operator attempts to shift the transmission into NEUTRAL by moving the Steering Transmission Integrated Control (STIC) trigger switch to the NEUTRAL position, the gear display will flash in the Digital Display Window of the Indicator Display. In order to stop the gear display from flashing, the operator must move the STIC trigger switch back into the FORWARD position, or decrease the machine speed below 12 km/h (7.5 mph).To assist with retarding, the transmission control also employs a feature whereby the transmission control will downshift as necessary to maximize engine resistance. When the right brake pedal is pressed, the transmission will downshift to maintain high engine speed, and thereby reduce load on the service brakes.
