2 Cut 5P8285 Hose to the length needed, as shown in the chart below. Next, follow the procedure for preparation of the hose ends for the couplings. Install 5P7860 Stem Assembly (1) and 5P6449 Sleeve (2) on one end of the hose. Fasten the shorter, straight length of former tube (3) into a vise as shown. Start the end of the hose without a coupling into the longer, straight length end of tube (3). Use a hammer with plastic tips to move the hose through the tube. Put water or 5P3975 Rubber Lubricant in the tube as a lubricant to help install the hose. 3 Slide 5P6449 Sleeve (4) on the end of the hose without a coupling. Make sure the larger chamfer on the sleeve is away from the tube. Put 5P3158 Stem Assembly (5) in position on the end of the hose. Put tube (3) and the hose on a flat surface. Turn the hose in the tube until the face of stem assembly (1) is vertical, as checked with square (6). Turn stem assembly (5) until the face is vertical, as checked with square (6). When in the correct position, the faces of the stems will be in a direction toward each other. 4 Turn the dial of 7S1125 Protractor (7) to put the scribe mark into alignment with zero. Fasten protractor (7) to stem assembly (5) so the bubble shows level. Move the dial of protractor (7) to put the scribe mark into alignment with the angle shown in the chart below. 5 Turn stem assembly (5) until the bubble shows level. Remove the protractor. Fasten the stem assembly and the sleeve on the hose.
