Forcing Bolt 2 Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before you begin the removal procedure, the exterior of the components should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Drain the oil from the housing into a suitable container for storage or disposal.

Attach a suitable lifting device to the gear pump and plate assembly (1). The weight of gear pump and plate assembly (1) is approximately 39 kg (85 lb).
Remove nuts (2). Use Tooling (A) in order to remove the gear pump and plate assembly (1).

Remove bolts (4) and nuts (6). Use two people in order to remove gear pump (5) from pump drive (3). The weight of gear pump (5) is approximately 27 kg (60 lb).
