1. Remove the guard assembly from the left side of the engine. 2. Use tool (A), and remove oil filter (1) from the oil filter base. 3. Remove the bolts and clip that hold inlet tube assembly (4) to the cylinder block and oil filter base. Remove the bolts that hold outlet tube assembly (3) to the cylinder block and oil filter base. Remove the tube assemblies.4. Remove four bolts (5) that hold oil filter base (2) to the oil cooler. Remove the oil cooler base.5. If necessary, replace the two O-ring seals in the top of the oil filter base. The following steps are for installation of the oil filter and base.6. Make sure the two O-ring seals are in position on the oil filter base. Put oil filter base (2) in position on the oil cooler, and install four bolts (5).7. Install inlet tube assembly (4) and outlet tube assembly (3) in the oil filter base and the cylinder block.8. Put clean engine oil on the filter seal, and install oil filter (2) on the filter base. Follow the instructions on the filter for the correct installation procedure.9. Install the guard assembly on the left side of the engine.Disassemble And Assemble Oil Filter Base
Start By:a. remove oil filter base 1. Remove four bolts (1) and covers (2) and (5) from the oil filter base. Put identification marks on plungers (4) and (7) as to their location in the oil filter base.2. Remove springs (3) and (6) and plungers (4) and (7) from the filter base.3. If necessary, remove the oil filter stud from the oil filter base. The following steps are for the assembly of the oil filter base.4. If the oil filter stud was removed from the oil filter base, put 9S3263 Thread Lock only on the threaded end of the stud that is to be installed into the oil filter base.5. Install the stud in the oil filter base, and tighten it to a torque of 70 7 N m (50 5 lb ft).
Make sure plungers (4) and (7) are installed in their original location in the oil filter base.
6. Install plunger (4), spring (3), cover (2) and two bolts (1) for the cooler bypass valve in the oil filter base.7. Install plunger (7), spring (6), cover (5) and two bolts (1) for the oil filter bypass valve in the oil filter base.End By:a. install oil filter base
