Machine Shipping
Investigate the travel route for overpass clearances. Make sure there will be adequate clearance for the machine being transported.To prevent the machine from slipping while loading, or shifting in transit, remove ice, snow or other slippery material from the loading dock and the truck bed before loading.
Obey all state and local laws governing the weight, width and length of a load.Observe all regulations governing wide loads.
Before Loading the Machine
This machine can be transported as a 3.05 m (10 ft) load by changing the rear wheel tracking to the inside of the frame.Loading the Machine
1. Block the trailer or rail car wheels before loading (trailer shown). 2. Swivel the rear wheels to the inside of the frame. See "Machine Adjustments". 3. Start the engine and set the automatic/manual cutting depth switch to the manual position. 4. Move the rotor cutting depth control switch towards the front of the machine until the hood and rotor are at the upper limit of travel. 5. Release the parking brake.6. Carefully drive the machine onto the trailer. 7. After the machine is in position, move propel lever to the STOP position. 8. Engage the parking brake.9. Lower the rotor to rest on the trailer deck. 10. Move the throttle lever to STOP.11. Turn the engine start switch to OFF and remove the key.12. Turn the disconnect switch to OFF and remove the key.13. Secure the machine with tie-downs when transporting on a rail car or a tractor-trailer.14. Cover the engine inlet and exhaust opening.Machine Roading
Perform a Walk-Around Inspection and measure the fluid levels in the various compartments.Check with the proper officials to obtain the required permits, etc.Machine Tiedown Information
Improper lifting or tiedowns can allow load to shift and cause injury or damage.
Install tiedowns at several locations, and block front and rear tracks.Check appropriate laws governing weight, width and length of load.Contact your Caterpillar dealer for shipping instructions for your machine.
