Adjustment Procedure - Crossover Relief and Makeup Valves
Note: The crossover relief and makeup valves cannot be adjusted on the machine. Use the following procedure to adjust this valve.Bench Test
The crossover relief and makeup valve has a setting that is higher than the main relief valve for the steering. The valve cannot be adjusted on the machine.Use the 9U-5829 Manifold to test the crossover relief and makeup valve on the test bench. The setting for the valve is 45000 500 kPa (6525 75 psi) under the following conditions:
SAE 10W hydraulic oil
65°C (150°F)
Flow rate between 20 to 100 L/min (5 to 26 gpm)If the crossover relief and makeup valve is not within the specifications, use the adjustment screw to change the pressure setting until the specifications are met.Test Preparation - Mechanical Neutral Position for the Actuator Piston
Perform step 1 through 4 of the "Test Preparation - POR Valve".
Remove the test port fittings from locations (HC) and (HD).

Install one end of tooling (A) into the port at location (HC) and the other end of tooling (A) into the port at location (HD).
Set the floorplate back into the original position. Be careful not to damage the test equipment.Test Procedure - Mechanical Neutral Position for the Actuator Piston
Start the engine. Warm the hydraulic oil to a minimum temperature of 65 °C (150 °F).
Operate the engine at 1500 rpm. Place all controls in the HOLD position.
Check the pressures at ports (HC) and (HD). The pressures should be within 345 kPa (50 psi) of each other.
If the pressures are not within the specified limit, perform the procedure in "Adjustment Procedure - Mechanical Neutral Position for the Actuator Piston".Adjustment Procedure - Mechanical Neutral Position for the Actuator Piston
The following procedure centers the actuator piston in the steering pump. When the actuator piston is not centered, the machine will pull to the left or to the right when the steering control lever is in the NEUTRAL position.This adjustment should only be required for a rebuilt steering pump.

Locate adjustment screw (7) on the steering pump.

Loosen locknut (8) while you hold adjustment screw (7) in place.
Turn adjustment screw (9) clockwise or turn adjustment screw (7) counterclockwise until the pressures on the pressure gauges are within 345 kPa (50 psi) of each other.
If you are not able to adjust the pressures within the specifications, proceed to the "Test Preparation - Neutral Position for the Steering Pump Control Valve". If you adjust the neutral position for the steering pump, perform the "Test Procedure - Mechanical Neutral Position for the Actuator Piston" again.Test Preparation - Neutral Position for the Steering Pump Control Valve
Perform step 1 through 10 of the "Test Preparation - POR Valve".

(X1) Test port for the right steering loop
(X2) Test port for the left steering loop
If you removed the test ports at locations (X1) and (X2) for a previous test or adjustment procedure, you will need to replace the ports.
Connect one set of tooling (A) to test
