Disassembly Procedure
Hot engine components can cause injury from burns. Before performing maintenance on the engine, allow the engine and the components to cool.
Climbing equipment may be required to access this service point. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Mounting and Dismounting" topic for safety information.
Note: Perform a back pressure test in order to determine if the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) needs to be cleaned. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Exhaust Particulate Filter - Test".

The Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) is divided into four sections. Each section is secured to the previous section with a clamp and a gasket.

Remove clamp (6) and gasket (5).
Separate inlet housing (4) from catalyst module (3) .

Remove clamp (8) and gasket (7).
Separate catalyst module (3) from filter module (2) .

Remove clamp (10) and gasket (9).
Separate filter module (2) from outlet housing (1) .Note: The filter does not have labels on the inlet or outlet ends of the filter. Mark the outside of the filter with a marker in order to identify the orientation of the filter.
Clean the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF). Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Exhaust Particulate Filter-Clean".
When you install the filter module new gaskets should be used. The filter module should be reinstalled in the same direction. The filter should not be reversed after the filter has been cleaned. Refer to the identification marks that are on the filter.
