Calibration Procedure
Move the machine away from other operating machines and away from personnel. Park the machine on a smooth, level surface. Lower the bucket and/or attachments to the ground. Stop the engine.

Connect the Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET) to the machine.Reference: For additional information on use of the Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET), refer to Troubleshooting and Testing and Adjusting, "Using Caterpillar Electronic Technician to Determine Diagnostic Codes" for the machine that is being serviced.
Turn the key start switch to the ON position.
Open the software program for the ET.
Select "Implement (for the machine that is being serviced)" from the "ECM Selector" screen and click on the "OK" button.
Select "Service" menu in the ET.
Select "Calibrations" from the "Service" menu.
Select "Lever Calibrations" from the "Calibrations" menu. The screen will display all the control levers that are available on the machine. Note: The ET software defaults so that all the control levers will be selected for calibration. Select the check mark button next to an individual control lever in order to remove a control lever from the calibration procedure.
Once you have selected the control levers to calibrate, select the "Begin" button. The screen will change in order to display step-by-step instructions for calibrating the control lever. Note: The ET screen will be divided into three display areas. The top section of the screen will be used to display important status parameters that are monitored during the calibration. The middle section of the screen displays the information about the calibration procedure. The bottom section of the screen displays the step-by-step instructions for the calibration. The step that currently needs to be performed will be in bold text. All other steps will be displayed in gray text.

Select the "Next" button in order to begin the calibration. A check mark button will be placed to the left of a completed step and the next step will be highlighted in bold text. After successful completion of a step, you may need to select the "Next" button in order to begin the following step. Follow the steps that are listed in the bottom section of the screen until the calibration procedure is complete.
When the calibration is complete, ET will display a status screen. The status screen will inform you if the calibration was successful. Select the "Continue" button in order to go to the next calibration or the "Cancel" button in order to end the calibrations.
Select the "Next" button in order to begin the next calibration.Note: If the "Third Function Enable Status" is enabled, the third function must be calibrated. The status of the "Third Function Enable Status" can be viewed from the configuration screen.Note: If the "Third Function Enable Status" has just been enabled through the configuration screen, ensure that the key start switch has been turned to the OFF position and to the ON position before
