(2) Out of groove retaining ring
(3) In grove retaining ringThe retaining ring can be mis-assembled under a portion of the clamp and outside another portion of the clamp. When this happens there is barely enough threads available to install the nut. Mis-assembly can lead to a clamp failure or exhaust leak.Correct Alignment
Illustration 6 g06078658
(4) Retaining ring is under insertThe retaining ring must be installed into the insert before tightening with the bellows clamps.Wastegate Bellows Clamp
Illustration 7 g06078673
(1) Insert gapNo lubrication should be installed to the inner clamp or the bolt threads. The clamps should have roughly equal thread engagement on both sides of the bellows assembly. The clamp inserts should have a sufficient gap between the inserts and not be touching.Wastegate Bellows Assembly Flow
Illustration 8 g06078681The flow direction arrow on the wastegate bellows assembly should point towards the exhaust elbow.Turbine Inlet Bellows Clamps

Illustration 10 g06078811
Example of a large frame turbine inlet bellows
No lubrication should be installed to the inner clamp or bolt threads. The turbine side clamp should have less thread engagement than the y-manifold side clamp. The clamp inserts should have a sufficient gap and not be touching each other.Inspection Checklist
The list below should be followed after the installation of exhaust system components:
Head to manifold gasket is present and seated
Log bellows gasket is present and seated
Log bellows flow direction arrow is facing turbocharger
Wastegate bellows gasket is present and seated
Wastegate bellows flow direction arrow is facing towards the exhaust elbow
Wastegate inlet and outlet retainer rings are fully seated under the v-band clamp
No anti-seize present on the wastegate clamp or bolt
Check the clamp bolt shank length
Turbine inlet bellows gasket is present and seated
Turbine inlet flow direction arrow is facing towards the turbine housing
Turbine inlet and outlet retainer rings are fully seated under the v-band clamp
No anti-seize present on the turbine inlet clamp or bolt
Check the clamp bolt shank length
Turbine outlet bellows clamp is installed, secure, and has no cracks in bellows
Inspect the exhaust elbow to exhaust elbow adapter gasket and ensure that all 12 bolts are tight
