1. Only responsible persons, delegated to do so, should operate any machinery.2. Be sure safety shields and guards are all in place and in good condition before starting the machine.3. Be sure all control levers and switches are at neutral or off before starting the engine.4. Check to see that all personnel are clear of the machine before starting the engine.5. Check to see that all personnel are clear of the machine before moving the machine.6. Never operate the machine under load until it is thoroughly warmed up - especially important with hydraulically operated equipment.7. When shutting the machine down, place all control levers and switches at the neutral or off position.8. Shut the machine down anytime the operator leaves the operating station of the machine.9. When parking the machine in freezing weather, run the machine onto wooden planks, rocks or brush to keep the wheels from freezing to the ground.10. When parking the machine for the night, provide appropriate lights or reflectors if the machine is adjacent to a highway in normal use or adjacent to a construction area where work is in progress.11. Personnel must stay in the obvious personnel areas of the machine. DO NOT go beyond the operator's station when engine is running.12. Stay clear of wheels and cutter when engine is running.13. Lower the cutter SLOWLY when starting a cut or the machine may ride up on the cutter and travel backwards some distance.14. DO NOT LET ANYONE STAND BEHIND THE MACHINE WHILE IN OPERATION. If the cutter hits an obstruction, the machine may jump backwards.
