Operator Station
(1) Brake pedal
(2) Display
(3) Propel lever
(4) Parking brake switch
(5) Keypad
(6) Automatic speed control
(7) Gear switchesThe operator controls provide desired control input to the propel system. The operator controls include:
Brake pedal (1)
Display (2)
Propel lever (3)
Parking brake switch (4)
Keypad (5)
Automatic speed control (ASC) (6)
Gear switches (7)Brake pedal (1) provides a modulated reduction in machine speed. As the pedal is depressed, the machine speed decreases. The farther the pedal is depressed, the slower the speed of the machine. When the pedal is depressed completely, the machine will not move.A sensor is at the base of brake pedal (1). This sensor provides an input signal to the machine ECM. The machine ECM uses the input from this sensor as one of the control parameters to calculate the desired machine speed and deceleration rates. The magnitude of the signal from the sensor is proportional to the position of the brake pedal. When the brake pedal passes through 80 percent of the total travel, the machine ECM sets the steepest deceleration ramp and engages the parking brake.Propel lever (3) is on the right console. The propel lever provides input to the machine ECM through the CAN lines. The propel lever is programmed to a desired throttle command and propel direction. The propel lever output signal ranges from - 100 percent to +100 percent where negative numbers correspond to the reverse direction. The machine ECM uses this input signal as one of the parameters for parking brake control. The machine ECM also uses the input signal from the propel lever to determine the desired speed and forward or reverse direction.Parking brake switch (4) is a toggle with two positions. The front position is the ON position. The rear position of the switch is the OFF position.Parking brake switch (4) enables or disables the parking brake function. When the switch is in the ON position, the parking brakes are enabled and engaged. When the switch is in the OFF position, the parking brake function is disabled. However, the brakes remain engaged until the machine ECM determines the brakes should be released.Keypad (5) on the right console contains switches that allow the operator to control the machine speed mode.Automatic speed control switches (6) are used to control the throttle command at full stick position. Automatic speed control switches (6) select tunable maximum throttle rpm limits in 2 percent increments. The value is used as a multiplier with the throttle command to reduce the effective maximum speed of the machine.A transition from low to high on the increase button raises the value in default 2 percent increments. If the button is held down for more than one second, the value increases 2 percent every 125 milliseconds until released. This results in an rpm limit increase of 16 percent per second. The decrease button functions similarly, except the percentage reduces. The percentage of change of each automatic speed control switch (6) is the same. The general range of the current automatic speed control setting is indicated by keypad (5) lights
