Use bolts (19) in order to fasten the plate (12) to the base (8) .

Evenly tighten the six flange bolts (19) .

Tighten the six flange bolts (19) to a torque of 4.0 1.0 N m (35.0 9.0 lb in).

Install the new O-ring seals (13) into the plate (12) .
Install slide plate (14) onto the plate (12) .

Install the shoulder bolt (16) into the bolt hole that secures the slide plate (14) in place. The shim (22) may be needed in order to prevent the slide plate from turning.

Tighten shoulder bolt (16) to a torque of 3.9 1.0 N m (34.5 9.0 lb in).

Note: The slide plate (14) must fit tightly when you attempt to turn left and right. If the slide plate does not fit tightly, remove shoulder bolt (16). Install shim (22) onto the shoulder bolt in order to prevent the slide plate from turning. Install the shoulder bolt (16) into the bolt hole that secures the slide plate (14) in place. Repeat Step 21.

Install blocking pads (17) onto slide plate (14). Use screws (18) in order to secure the blocking pads in position on the slide plate. Install screws (18) .

Assemble the filter element. Insert the oil filter element (7) into the open end of the shell assembly.

Note: Apply grease to all of the O-ring seals.Note: Pay attention to the O-ring seal when you install the handle. Make sure that the O-ring seal remains properly positioned on the handle.
Prepare the handle assembly for installation into the housing of the shell assembly. Apply grease to the O-ring seal (5). Install the O-ring seal (5) onto the handle (1) .
Install the handle assembly into the shell housing until the plate of the handle contacts the area of the notch. This allows clearance for the installation of the retaining ring.

Install the retaining ring (4) that secures the plate of the handle to the housing of the shell assembly.

Install the new 4J-7533 O-Ring Seal (3) onto the 9S-4180 O-Ring Plug (2) .

Install the O-ring plug (2) into the plate of handle (1). Tighten the O-ring plug (2) to a torque of 9.0 1.0 N m (80.0 9.0 lb in).Note: After the assembly procedure is complete, grasp the handle in order to move the shell assembly. Move the shell assembly in the up direction and in the down direction. Check that the handle of the shell assembly is properly secured and that the O-ring seal of the plate has remained in position.
